Rob Ortega

Native Californian Rob Ortega is well versed in the fields of business and finance. A seasoned professional and currently vice president and real estate loan officer with Santa Barbara Bank & Trust (SBBT), Mr. Ortega previously served in senior leadership within the title and escrow venues. Prior to joining SBBT in 2002, he led 27 profitable branch operations and 125 employees for a national title insurance organization.

Professional achievements include receipt of several regional and national corporate awards for distinguished achievement and showcase his commitment for business excellence. Mr. Ortega is an outspoken advocate on lifelong learning. As such, he has served on national committees for defining industry standards for title insurance and escrow. This quest also enticed him to Pepperdine University in 1992 and his MBA from the Executive Program at the Graziadio Business School (EMBA).

Mr. Ortega's ability to cultivate, integrate and realize practical business applications and sound solutions and his proven mentoring skills and keen customer sensitivity enhanced over a 30-year career serve him well as a class advisor and adjunct faculty member within this distinguished EMBA Program, in which he has also served as a class advisor.

In his spare time, Mr. Ortega is an avid reader who savors family time and hiking along Santa Barbara back country trails and volunteering with local non-profit organizations. Mr. Ortega and his wife, Eileen, an escrow business professional, have three children.

Mr. Ortega has served in leadership capacities for the Santa Barbara Chamber of Commerce and their Economic Coordinating Council and with UC Santa Barbara's Economic Project for Ventura County. He enjoys his special relationship with business and community colleagues in the Santa Barbara Rotary Club and the Pepperdine Mentor Program. His upbringing as an inner-city youth provides lifetime benefits as it allows him to focus his time, talents and resources on youth character development programs with the Boy Scouts of America, United Way of Santa Barbara County, Santa Barbara Council on Alcoholism and Drug Abuse and its "Fighting Back" educational programs.
