Covered Student Veterans Programs

Yellow Ribbon Program at Pepperdine University

The Yellow Ribbon GI Education Enhancement Program (Yellow Ribbon Program) is a provision of the Post-9/11 Veterans Educational Assistance Act of 2008, also known as the Post-9/11 GI Bill® or Chapter 33. The Yellow Ribbon Program allows institutions of higher learning to enter into a voluntary agreement with the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) to contribute funds to a veteran's unmet tuition and certifiable fee charges (student health insurance fees) when those charges exceed the amount payable under Chapter 33. Fees that are not certifiable include workshop fees, deposit, and Global Program Fees. The program allows institutions to contribute an amount up to 50% of a veteran's unmet costs; the VA will match the amount. (The Yellow Ribbon Program is not available for active service member or spouses of an active service member.)

Students who are 100% eligible for the post 9/11 GI bill® and not on active duty will receive those benefits, and if their tuition and related charges (see above) exceed that amount, the difference will be covered by Pepperdine and the VA jointly under the provisions of the Yellow Ribbon Program. This ensures that eligible students will have their tuition and related fees covered. Pepperdine is proud to share that we do not have a limit on the number of Yellow Ribbon-eligible students we accept.

Veterans Groups on Campus

Our veterans, faculty, students, and staff have come together to form multiple student groups and a University-wide veterans committee. Explore these groups, read about our veteran news, and review upcoming events to get involved.
