Pepperdine MBA Alum Dean Indot Goes Viral with Wife on TikTok—And Turns Finance Talk into a Full-Time Brand

When Dean Indot (MBA ’05) sat down in his reading chair and casually explained to his wife why debit cards might not be the smartest choice for everyday spending, he had no idea he’d soon be educating millions. That one-take, no-mic video, shot on an iPhone, racked up over 14.5 million views and launched a viral finance brand with 1.7 million TikTok followers and counting.

In a recent Mashable interview, Dean and his wife Alexis shared how their account, @alexisanddean, became TikTok’s go-to source for practical, relatable financial advice. Dean, a commercial banking executive and Pepperdine Graziadio MBA grad, shares his market knowledge while Alexis, a digital marketing pro, handles filming, editing, and strategy—straight from their living room.

“Our style hasn’t changed since day one,” Dean said. “It’s just Alexis holding her iPhone while we talk like we always do.” Their Financial Literacy Fridays series launched with nearly a million views on its first post.

Alexis attributes their success to authenticity. “I represent the audience,” she said. “I ask Dean questions I genuinely don’t know the answers to—because most people don’t.” That natural, conversational tone has resonated with viewers looking for easy-to-understand takes on trending financial topics.

Today, the couple earns income through the TikTok Creator Fund, educational rewards, and carefully selected brand deals. Still, Dean says the mission remains clear: “It’s not about making money fast. It’s about helping the community.”
