Why 2018 Will Be the Year of the Woman | Huffington Post
Bernice Ledbetter offers positive insights for women in 2018
Despite a large number of women CEOs stepping down since 2009 – and most of them not
replaced by other female corporate leaders – Dr. Bernice Ledbetter is optimistic about
the advancement of women in 2018. Dr. Ledbetter contributes regularly to the Huffington Post on matters of gender and diversity in the workplace, and her latest column outlines
why she feels the outlook for women in leadership is strong.
She cites the midterm elections of 2018 as one indicator, noting that a recent Pew
Research Center poll found "nearly six-in-ten women (58%) say they are paying increased
attention to politics since Trump's election, compared with 46% of men." She also
sees growing institutional support for women and a growing pipeline of younger female
leaders. Dr. Ledbetter is Practitioner Faculty of Organizational Theory and Management
and Academic Director of the MS in Management and Leadership program at the Pepperdine
Graziadio Business School, and Director of the Center for Women in Leadership at Pepperdine
University.
