Snap's Leaks Not Only Problem | Los Angeles Business Journal

Dr. Stephen Rapier weighs in on Snap Inc.'s PR and legal battles resulting from their employee leaks

Los Angeles Business Journal's Garrett Reim reports on Snap Inc.'s recent PR battle, quoting Pepperdine Graziadio Assistant Faculty of Marketing Stephen M. Rapier, PhD. on the potential cause of recent embarrassing leaks. Venice-based Snap raised billions in capital, but is still considered a social media underachiever, according to Reim. The company's corporate lawyer released threatening remarks to employees about leaking in a memo that, itself, got leaked. Dr. Rapier suggests the leak could be a result of employees voicing their frustration by taking a swipe at Snap Inc.'s leadership: "Apparently in this case people aren't satisfied complaining over lunch with their colleagues, but they feel they need to do something greater."
The LABJ article goes on to report on Snap Inc.'s struggles to expand beyond its core messaging app and less-than-stellar performance in the market.
