Los Angeles Daily News: Dean David M. Smith Opinion Examines Employment in Los Angeles County


Pepperdine University Graziadio School of Business and Management Dean David M. Smith authored an 800-word opinion on the employment picture in Los Angeles County this weekend that ran in the Los Angeles Daily and four other local Los Angeles-area newspapers.  In the opinion, Dr. Smith describes just-released employment data out from the California Employment Development Department and suggests more should be done to help “discouraged workers” – those whose unemployment benefits have run out and, with no job prospects, have stopped looking.  He suggests expanded access to capital, business friendly public policies and job training are steps in the right direction.
