Pepperdine Business Schools’ Nelson Granados, PhD, has been named the academic director of the Executive Doctor of Business Administration (DBA) at Pepperdine Graziadio Business School. Dr. Granados takes over from previous academic director Dr. John Mooney, who successfully launched Graziadio's Executive DBA program four years ago. In that short span, the program achieved a top five world ranking in CEOWORLD Magazine earlier this year. As the program continues to evolve and grow, Dr. Granados will work with his faculty colleagues to continuously improve the quality of the program.

"As I take this important responsibility, I am very mindful of our goal: To develop evidence-based executives and academics who are able to leverage scientific methods to solve contemporary business problems,” Dr. Granados said. “We guide our students to develop research projects that are theoretically grounded, rigorous in the methods, and relevant and impactful for business practice.”

In addition to his role as the academic director of the Executive DBA program, Dr. Granados is the executive director of the Institute for Entertainment, Media, and Sports and professor of information systems and technology management. He actively combines academia with practice, as a member of the Board of Advisors for technology start-ups, and he is a frequent contributor to the Media and Entertainment section of Forbes. His broad research interests are related to the strategic and economic consequences of digital innovation.

Prior to joining academia, Dr. Granados performed multiple marketing management positions in the airline industry across four continents, and he was also a product manager for enterprise systems at IBM.
