Gia Luisa Honnen Helps Drivers Navigate the Costs and Benefits of Full Coverage Insurance

WalletHub recently featured expert insights from Gia Luisa Honnen, faculty member at Pepperdine Graziadio Business School, in its analysis of the Cheapest Full Coverage Car Insurance Companies of 2025.

According to WalletHub's findings, the most affordable full coverage car insurance providers are USAA, Esurance, and Auto-Owners. With the average cost of full coverage totaling $4,211 per year, more than three times the cost of state-minimum coverage, the study highlights the importance of understanding when full coverage is a necessity versus a luxury.
Honnen explained that the decision largely depends on individual circumstances, including financial readiness, vehicle value, and risk tolerance.

"Whether full coverage car insurance is a luxury or a necessity depends on a number of factors such as your personal financial situation, the current value and make of your car, and your personal risk tolerance," Honnen shared. "Full coverage may be essential if you have a car loan, a new or valuable vehicle, or limited savings to cover potential loss. Conversely, it may be a luxury for those with older vehicles, substantial savings, or minimal driving exposure."

Honnen's perspective underscores the value of data-driven financial decision-making and highlights Pepperdine Graziadio faculty’s ongoing contributions to real-world consumer and business insights.
