Dr. Granados: Google Does Plenty To Fight Piracy, But Challenges Remain


Dr. Nelson Granados, Associate Professor of Information Systems Technology Management at the Graziadio Business School, says there has long been a controversy over whether Google condones or fights piracy.  “After carefully analyzing several reports including Google’s, and consulting with experts on the topic, I believe Google is voluntarily stepping up to the plate to combat piracy and should be commended for that. But I also believe more needs to be done, especially in search.”  Dr. Granados says “I’m hopeful that content creators, tech firms, advertisers, and regulators will continue to unite against the real enemy: pirates. One way is to acknowledge victories and successful initiatives without diminishing their contribution, while recognizing that big and important challenges remain ahead.” Read more here.
