Dongshin Kim Featured as Subject Matter Expert in New Article for CNET


Dr. Dongshin KimThe refinance process can be a confusing one as interest rates continue to fluctuate. It also is similar to the home buying process, in that it involves a lot of paperwork, credit checks, and closing costs that can vary between lenders. 

CNET’s article, “How Refinancing Works,” provides six tips for individuals looking to refinance in 2021. Dongshin Kim, PhD, assistant professor of finance and real estate at Pepperdine Graziadio Business School, weighed in on the benefits of switching from a 30-year to 15-year option. 

“These days, 15-year loans are very cheap and the shorter term can help homeowners pay off their loans more quickly. Because the rates are low, the monthly payment likely won't increase by too much."
