David Smith Interviewed About Job Sectors On KNX-AM

While layoffs are heavily impacting the technology sector, the economic outlook isn’t all doom and gloom. Dr. David Smith, Pepperdine Graziadio professor of economics and associate provost for online learning, talked about thriving sectors of the economy in an interview with KNX-AM in Los Angeles. 

“Education and healthcare have continued to be strong and they’re good bets to be strong going into the future,” Smith said during the interview. “Looking at construction and manufacturing [industries], those are a little bit more uncertain, but we did see some gains in construction [in December], which is good. Other sectors that are going to be more challenged are those related to retail, entertainment and generally the information sector, which is technology heavy.”
