While summer is a time of leisure for families everywhere, summer is also two months
of childcare headaches for 43 million working parents across the country. The pandemic
has exacerbated the challenges, with childcare becoming increasingly costly and hard
to find. Pepperdine Graziadio Business School faculty member Dana Sumpter was recently
quoted in Business Insider on how the summertime-childcare crunch is impacting parents. Sumpter says even when
you have the right plans in place, things can quickly fall apart. "Camp might shut
down due to staff sicknesses or your child could be exposed to COVID and need to stay
home," Sumpter said in the article. "People desperately need employer and manager
