Cristina Gibson Contributes to Article on Migration in Academy of Management Discoveries

The world has turned its attention to the movement of people across borders. Pepperdine Graziadio Business School’s Dr. Cristina Gibson, Dean's Distinguished Professor of Management, is among the researchers who recently published “Movement of People across Borders: Transdisciplinary Research to Meet the Challenges in Migration, Business, and Society” in the Academy of Management Discoveries. As geopolitical crises unfold and the world turns its attention to the movement of people across borders, management scholars endeavoring to inform business and policy must open new lines of inquiry if they are to maximize impact. The research argues for three important avenues of special attention:

  • Transformation in directionality and geographic spread of global migration patterns

  • Human rights among under-researched migrant populations

  • Working from anywhere, in automated workplaces, and with artificial intelligence

Research pathways are critical and require proper engagement in conceptual cross-fertilization and inclusion of practitioner, policy, and human rights.
