Christina Gibson Named Winner of 2023 Responsible Research in Management Award
Christina Gibson, PhD and Professor of Management in Applied Behavioral Science at Pepperdine Graziadio Business School, was recently named as a Distinguished Winner of the 2023 Responsible Research in Management Award.
Gibson received the award for her article “Gibson, C. (2022) Investing in communities: Forging new ground in corporate community co-development through relational and psychological pathways,” which was published in the Academy of Management Journal last year. The award is co-sponsored by Fellows of the Academy of Management and the Community for Responsible Research in Business and Management.
Since 2018, this annual award has honored high quality published scientific research that addresses critical issues in business and society. 122 scholarly works were nominated for the 2023 award.
These works underwent a rigorous two-stage review process. First, a committee of AOM Fellows identified finalists. Next, the finalists were evaluated by a group of executive reviewers. Winners were chosen based on the joint recommendations of the academic Fellows and the practitioner executives. Amidst the drumbeat of calls for research that is relevant to practice, RRM is the one award that goes only to those studies that scholars deem scientifically rigorous and practicing executives deem meaningful and actionable.
The eight winning works for 2023 – which include three Distinguished Winners and five Winners – were all published within the last four years and in the best journals. These studies exemplify the principles of responsible research. They strive for broad and significant societal benefits by informing policy, improving practice, and advancing theory.
