Brandon Parsons Discusses Potential Impact of Steel and Aluminum Tariffs on ABC7 News
In a recent ABC7 Eyewitness News segment, Brandon Parsons, an economist at Pepperdine University's Graziadio Business School, provided insights into the potential economic impact of newly proposed tariffs on steel and aluminum imports.
Parsons highlighted that industries such as automotive, manufacturing, and aerospace could experience increased production costs as a result of these tariffs. He emphasized that these higher costs might ultimately be passed on to consumers, leading to elevated prices for a range of goods.
“When this goes back and forth and we see these dynamics of everybody throwing tariffs on each other, it just leads to really everybody losing, everybody facing higher costs, and in other countries, leading to higher levels of unemployment,” Parsons explained.
His analysis highlights the far-reaching implications of trade policies on both industries and consumers.
