Bernice Ledbetter Offers Opinion in HR News About Diversity and Inclusion
Diversity & Inclusion (D&I) is now an organized and formalized workplace according
to Pepperdine Graziadio faculty member Bernice Ledbetter in a recent opinion in HR
News. Many companies have adopted D&I both for employee retention, productivity, and
a part of their overall brand narrative. Commitments to D&I at the top of the org
chart are earnest and widespread -- embedded into mission statements and employee
onboarding processes. But more work needs to be done, wrote Ledbetter. She recommends
HR directors examine multiple D&I models by spending time analyzing different models
and approaches to identify the most applicable and practical, identify “Workplace
Champions” dedicated to improving a D&I functions within the organization, and prepare
leaders with skills to support D&I by train-the-trainer approaches.
