Alumnus Janelle Meyers Ullrich Represents Best for the World Leader

Janelle Meyers Ullrich (MBA ‘18) is vice president of marketing at Adventist Health, a faith-based nonprofit health care provider. During the start of the pandemic, Adventist Health faced the great responsibility of being a provider of information and health care. “I never felt more connected to the meaning and purpose of my work that I’m supporting behind the scenes,” said Ullrich in a recent interview with Comstock magazine. As vice president, Ullrich leads the marketing strategies that enhance patient experience and promote the visibility of the brand. She builds campaigns to reach potential customers within Adventist Health’s market, which includes 22 hospitals and 300 clinics in California, Oregon, and Hawaii.

The pandemic created an environment where businesses were forced to react and pivot quickly to new market demands and messaging, as well as navigate a foreign environment with many unknowns. Pepperdine Graziadio MBA program provides an educational experience where students develop traits and behavioral patterns of business leaders. Twenty-first-century leaders demonstrate courage, authenticity, passion, and collaboration. Ullrich states during her day-to-day responsibilities, she follows the principle of authentic leadership, “to me, that means showing up as my whole, authentic self and leading others in that way.”
