Biography

Dr. Lynn Newman is an educator, organization consultant and executive coach who currently serves as a faculty member at Pepperdine University's Graziadio Business School. Dr. Newman instructs courses in organizational behavior, creating and leading effective teams and leadership practice. Prior to her eight years at Pepperdine University, Dr. Newman served on the faculty of the University of Southern California's Marshall School of Business and led executive programs at the University of Michigan and Harvard Business School. She also spent seven years on the faculty at Alliant University, where she was director of the Center for Innovation and Change.

Nationally-known for her expertise and wisdom regarding excellence in leadership, Dr. Newman has helped successful leaders across industries achieve positive, measurable change in behavior for themselves, their people and their teams. Lynn has been at the forefront of the development and use of psychometric materials for leadership assessment. She coauthored an early 360-degree feedback instrument that is used today throughout our global organizations. A specialist in leadership development and facilitating large-scale organizational change, her clients have included the Marriott Corporation, Kinko's, Eddie Bauer, Sunglass Hut International, Intel, ValueClick, Lifetime Fitness and Caterpillar Dealer. Dr. Newman's deep expertise in coaching senior executives and physicians in healthcare settings has resulted in multi-year executive coaching engagements at Kaiser Permanente, Allergan Pharmaceuticals, Amgen, Feinstein Kean Healthcare, the Critical Path Institute and the National Institutes of Health for senior leaders of the National Cancer Institute and the Human Genome Project.

Lynn holds a PhD in business administration from the University of Southern California and an MS in counseling psychology from the University of Michigan. Her research interests are leadership coaching, career transitions and increasing human capacity through strength-based approaches.
