Daniel André Langer
Biography
Dr. Daniel André Langer is the Executive Professor of Luxury Strategy at Pepperdine University and he also teaches luxury at NYU, New York. The Economist calls Dr. Daniel Langer the “authority in luxury.” Preeminent luxury strategy and brand equity expert, founder and CEO of Équité, a leading global luxury, lifestyle, and hospitality brand strategy and activation firm, acclaimed best-selling author of several luxury management books in English and Chinese, highly awarded serial-brand builder, shaping luxury’s future at global institutes and within top-tier brands worldwide.
Dr. Langer is named “Global Top 5 Luxury Key Opinion Leader,” and is featured regularly in New York Times, Wall Street Journal, Forbes, Financial Times, The Economist, Vogue Business, and South China Morning Post, among many other global publications and TV programs. He writes regular future of luxury columns in Jing Daily, Luxury Daily, South China Morning Post, and Tatler Asia and contributes frequently to Sotheby’s Magazine and Robb Report.
He advises some of the most iconic brands in automotive, hospitality, airlines and private aviation, fashion and beauty, jewelry and watches, etc. He is a sought-after keynote speaker at the world’s leading luxury events and he does regular future of luxury workshops and training with many of the top luxury brands globally. Before he started his consulting career he worked for Nestlé, L’Oréal and Henkel, where he held global and country top leadership positions with full P&L and market share responsibility and a track record of growing brands and business units above the market rate.
Dr. Langer got his MBA and Ph.D. in luxury management from University of Mainz and his academic and executive education included UAM Madrid, IESE Barcelona, Thunderbird, and Harvard Business School. He pioneered luxury science with his breakthrough research on decoding the luxury value drivers, building extreme value and creating sustainable competitive advantage applicable for luxury, lifestyle, and consumer brands alike. Teaching his students is one of his greatest passions. He brings a unique perspective combining business acumen, academic excellence and deep global expertise. He has been invited as a guest lecturer at SCAD, London Business School, Singapore Management University, Korea University, HWZ Zurich and others. He lived in Europe, Asia, Africa, and now in the US and speaks seven languages.
