Pepperdine Graziadio Master of Science in Real Estate Students Gain Valuable Insights from Pasadena Office Property Tour

In a recent class led by Pepperdine Graziadio faculty member Heather Boren, graduate students from various programs, including the Master of Science in Real Estate (MSRE) and Masters in Business Administration (MBA), embarked on a property tour of office buildings in Pasadena. Guided by MSRE alumnus Sean O'Malley (MSRE '22), now with CBRE, students had a firsthand glimpse into the world of office transaction and advisory services.

During the tour, students had the opportunity to explore two distinct Pasadena office properties, each offering unique insights into the commercial real estate landscape. The first property, a historical/creative office space, showcased a spec suite and creative office build-out, providing students with a preview of modern workspace trends. Additionally, they gained a comprehensive market overview of Old Town Pasadena, understanding the dynamics of leasing in a historic district.

At the second property, a Class A trophy asset, students delved into property management processes and the role of amenities in leasing decisions. Engaging discussions covered key strategies in market analysis for office leasing, from both landlord and tenant perspectives. Students actively participated by posing insightful questions about the leasing and design process, as well as the future of office space.

In addition to the property tours, O’Malley shared his journey from MSRE student to successful agent at CBRE, offering a real-world example of career progression in the industry and demonstrating the practical application of skills learned in the classroom.
