Alumnus Sam Laganà Honored with Catholic Charities' Spirit of Giving Humanitarian Award

Sam Laganà

Pepperdine Graziadio alumnus Sam Laganà (MBA ’17, PKE 137) was honored by Catholic Charities of Los Angeles with its annual Spirit of Giving Humanitarian Award for the Region of Our Lady of the Angels. Laganà was nominated by board chair Todd Yoshitake in recognition of his exceptional service to the Greater Los Angeles community.

Laganà was recognized for his leadership and hands-on support of recovery and resilience efforts following the January firestorms that devastated Pacific Palisades, Topanga, and Malibu. His work helped thousands of individuals and families during both the immediate response and long-term recovery. He was also recently named Honorary Town Sheriff for Pacific Palisades in recognition of his community engagement and assistance during the crisis.

In addition to his philanthropic impact, Laganà serves as the stadium voice of the Los Angeles Rams, a role he has held for the past ten seasons, and as chairman of the John R. Wooden Award Foundation, further reflecting his commitment to leadership, service, and excellence.

The Spirit of Giving Humanitarian Award, previously presented to notable recipients including Vin Scully, Roma Downey, and Fritz Coleman, honors individuals who exemplify compassion, service, and dedication to uplifting the Los Angeles community. Laganà was introduced at the gala by Chris Harrer, with Jim Drollinger of Westchester serving as emcee.

The awards ceremony, held in Marina del Rey, also highlighted the vital work of Catholic Charities of Los Angeles and its St. Robert’s Center, located near the Santa Monica–Venice border. The center provides essential services to families and individuals in transition, embodying Catholic Charities’ mission to lead with love and welcome all who seek support.
