Pepperdine Graziadio Alumna Named 40 Under 40 Honoree by Silicon Valley Business Journal
Angela S. Hwang (EMBA ‘18) isn’t just Urban Catalyst’s Marketing and Communications Director, she led the marketing team that brought in close to $30 million in direct investments for the company via a multichannel marketing strategy. By successfully expanding the marketing and communications team, she also significantly increased Urban Catalyst’s webinar and blog output by 533% and 53%, respectively.
Hwang was recently honored in the Silicon Valley Business Journal’s annual 40 Under 40 list, which honors the best and brightest rising stars in the Silicon Valley business community. Hwang has worked in a variety of industries for over 15 years, from big law to technology. Hwang attributes her success in Silicon Valley partially to her background and perspective as an Asian-American woman in a predominantly male industry, allowing her to bring a unique perspective to every project in her journey to climbing the corporate ladder.
While looking to enter the tech industry, Hwang considered MBA programs to hone her skills and expertise. Her goal was to attain transferable skills that would allow her to move from one industry to another with relative ease. She selected Pepperdine Graziadio because of its small, intimate classroom environment. Hwang earned her Executive MBA while continuing her full time job. Hwang credits her experience at Pepperdine Graziadio for helping her develop her skills as a business leader and giving her a first-hand perspective of how business units operate in different industries.
In addition to her role with Urban Catalyst, Hwang is a co-founder of the Usemy.xyz app. More information on Hwang’s work and education can be found here.
