Pepperdine Graziadio’s Amy Zwagerman Examines Spider-Man Box Office Dominance in New Inc. Column

Amy Zwagerman, project manager for Pepperdine’s Institute for Entertainment, Media, and Sports (IEMS) and adjunct faculty member, has debuted as a new contributor column for Inc. Magazine.

In her inaugural article, titled "Zendaya and Tom Holland Own 95 Percent of the Domestic Box Office. The Reason Isn’t What You Think," Zwagerman analyzes the historic box office performance of Spider-Man: Brand New Day alongside Christopher Nolan's The Odyssey. Rather than focusing solely on the record-breaking figures, she examines the underlying marketing and branding strategy executed by Sony, highlighting how authentic star power, audience connection, and halo-effect scheduling created a distinct competitive advantage over traditional promotional campaigns. Zwagerman’s column for Inc. will continue to explore business strategies across branding, marketing, and media.
