Gia Luisa Honnen Offers Expert Insight on Best Business Credit Cards for New Businesses in WalletHub
Gia Luisa Honnen, faculty member at Pepperdine Graziadio Business School, recently
contributed her expertise to WalletHub’s analysis of the best credit cards for new business owners.
In the feature, Honnen explained the advantages and risks of using credit cards as
a funding tool for startups. She emphasized that while credit cards can be a valuable
resource for managing cash flow, tracking expenses, and building a company’s credit
profile, they should not be relied upon as a primary source of financing. "Proper
usage, avoiding high-interest debt and making timely payments, is essential to realizing
benefits without undue risk," Honnen noted.
Honnen also addressed how today’s credit card landscape compares to pre-Great Recession
conditions. While credit is now less accessible and promotional offers are more limited,
she highlighted that stronger consumer protections and more tailored business features
make credit cards safer for entrepreneurs than in years past.
Her guidance underscores the importance of strategic financial management for new
business owners, particularly when choosing tools that can both support growth and
ensure long-term sustainability.
