Dr. Elizabeth M. Adams Named Visiting Scholar at Umeå University to Advance Responsible AI Research

Dr. Elizabeth M. Adams (DBA ‘24), a postdoctoral fellow at Pepperdine Graziadio Business School, has been appointed visiting scholar at Umeå University in Sweden, where she will collaborate with the esteemed AI Policy Lab, led by Dr. Virginia Dignum, a global authority in Responsible AI.
From May 5 to June 11, Adams will participate in a dynamic knowledge exchange initiative focused on Responsible AI, stakeholder engagement, and AI policy development. Her contributions will include leading workshops, facilitating interactive sessions, and co-developing a syllabus for the course “Leading Responsible AI.” She will also deliver an invited talk titled “Evolving Leadership in Responsible AI,” offering insights into adaptive leadership strategies in this evolving field.
Throughout her appointment, Adams will work closely with faculty and researchers through presentations, roundtable discussions, and joint seminars. During the final week of her residency, she will synthesize key learnings, explore opportunities for future collaboration, and engage with local organizations to examine the real-world application of Responsible AI in both business and policy contexts.
Adams views the appointment as a significant milestone in her postdoctoral journey—an opportunity to deepen her research, build global academic partnerships, and advance the practice of Responsible AI leadership. Upon her return, she will share key insights with the Pepperdine community, reinforcing the university’s position as a thought leader in the ethical implementation of artificial intelligence.
