Pepperdine Graziadio and Caruso Law Students Take Home $5,000 Prize in Sports Case Study Competition

The Pepperdine Graziadio Institute for Entertainment, Media, and Sports (IEMS) sponsored a team for the 8th Annual Game Day Sports Case Competition hosted by the UCLA Anderson School of Management - Center for Media, Entertainment, and Sports. The Pepperdine team presented a sports business proposal about Name, Image, and Likeness (NIL) opportunities for an NCAA Athlete and subsequently negotiated a contract in front of a panel of sport industry judges. The team was comprised of five Pepperdine Graziadio and Caruso Law students: Stefani Feldman (MBA ‘22), Tai M. Brown (MBA ‘22), Matte Landau (JD ‘24), Matthew Hand (JD ‘24), and Taylor Jennings (JD ‘24). The Pepperdine Graziadio team beat out two UCLA teams, Villanova, Marquette, and UConn, winning first place which included $5,000!

"What I appreciated the most about this competition was the collaboration with law students to understand the full complexity of NIL deals in order to best position our marketing material. We were very thorough in our research which gave us confidence in daring to set a standard in the NIL space,” said Stefani Feldman (MBA ‘22).
