Women at Graziadio
Former Bloomberg journalist heads up Graziadio MBA Women International student club
What is the purpose of MBA Women International?
MBA Women International provides a place for women to chat, strategize, and brainstorm about women’s issues, particularly in the workforce. We have great speakers throughout the year. As president, I just got rid of the enrollment fee in order to reduce any barriers to entry. Our members have formed a sisterhood. We stay bonded through our shared experience at Pepperdine and keep in touch as we embark on our careers and do interesting things.
What strengths do women bring to the workforce?
Women bring a strong focus on organizational development. They possess cultural intelligence and emotional intelligence. They also understand what makes a great leader. Women, especially, care about becoming and developing leaders that are socially responsible, conscious, and aspirational.
Why did you decide to pursue an MBA?
I was a journalist with Bloomberg and focused on business and financial journalism. Having an MBA, and the subsequent credibility, is a huge part of advancement. It was also a great next step because I'm considering a PhD Organizational Behavior.
What has been a highlight of your MBA experience?
One of the best classes I’ve had at Pepperdine is organizational behavior, it was fascinating. Dr Ann Newman spoke about how we’re seeing much higher numbers of women entering mba programs now. When looking at bschools in la, I was impressed that Pepperdine cultivates women in mba programs and that the seer program and csr focused aspects of MBA lends itself really well to what we’re seeing in the work force with women excellening. It was a place for her to grow and move forward with career and life goals. All encompassing thing.
