Jaclyn Margolis Discusses Collaboration Overload in Psychology Today


While collaboration can have great benefits for employees, too many meetings can be exhausting, distracting, and cause diminishing returns if overused. In Psychology Today, Pepperdine Graziadio Business School faculty member Jaclyn Margolis describes how most employees report being overwhelmed by too many meetings. ‚Whereas most employees report being overwhelmed by constant meetings and collaboration at work, leaders underestimate the number of employees that feel this way by nearly 50 percent,‚ Margolis wrote in the article. ‚To help better understand this issue and get their teams back on track, managers can establish meeting-free time, consider who actually needs to be included in conversations, and fight Zoom fatigue.‚ Margolis goes on to explain how managers can make better use of their employees‚Äô time and remedy collaboration overload.
