Pepperdine Graziadio Business School to Celebrate 2021 Commencements
After more than a year of virtual classes, the Pepperdine Graziadio Business School will host its first in-person event celebrating the summer 2021 commencement ceremonies. This time-honored tradition will take place at Alumni Park on the Malibu Campus and will be celebrated over the course of two days as follows:
- Part-Time Programs: Friday, August 13, 2021 at 4 PM
- Full-Time Programs: Saturday, August 14, 2021 at 10 AM
- Executive Programs: Saturday, August 14, 2021 at 3 PM
The events will also honor Brett M. Johnson (MBA ’05), Andy Kubitz (MBA ’11) and Christa
Z Workman (BA ’97, MBA ’00, JD ’01) as the recipients of this year’s Distinguished
Alumnus Awards.
Johnson is a member of the Graziadio Business School Board and a Graziadio senior
fellow in entrepreneurship. He founded Benevolent Capital in 2005, a family-owned
firm with investments in professional sports teams, real estate, private equity, and
venture capital. Johnson earned his MBA from the Graziadio Business School’s Presidents
and Key Executives program in 2005.
Kubits began his career in television as a videographer for an ABC affiliate in Wasao,
Wisconsin, ascending the ranks of network television from CBS to ESPN. From 2012 to
2021, he served as executive vice president for programming strategy at ABC Entertainment.
Kubitz received his MBA from the Graziadio Business School’s Presidents and Key Executives
Program in 2011.
Workman earned four degrees from Pepperdine University, including her MBA from the
Graziadio Business School in 2000. She is an executive board member of the University’s
Institute for Entertainment, Media, Sports, and Culture, and serves on the Pepperdine
University Board. Workman previously served as head of business affairs for United
Artists and is currently co-president and chief operating officer of River Road Entertainment.
