The El Segundo-based DPI Retail has been working hard during the pandemic to ensure properties remain strong as the pandemic has impacts to the retail sector. Dongshin Kim provides his expertise and states how the retail sector was struggling even before the pandemic with the increase in ecommerce. The retail estate company has been spending time to remodel a few of it’s centers which are located in California and Utah and often anchor grocery stores and other daily use stores. Many retail properties are taking the opportunity to rebrand, remerchansie, and in some cases bring in new tenants. “To survive this environment, they have to think about their strategy in positioning,” said Kim. For centers that want to come out of the pandemic and be successful, Kim suggests they must offer experiences and services that consumers can’t get online.
