Amy Towner, recent Pepperdine Graziadio PKE graduateOn April 22, 2020, Amy Towner, CEO of the Health Care Foundation for Ventura County and recent Pepperdine Graziadio PKE graduate, participated in a press conference organized by the County of Ventura to discuss updates on coronavirus in the community and the road to reopening. Amy calls attention to the important role the local community played and how quickly they organized, innovated and addressed medical equipment shortages. When the COVID-19 outbreak began, the Health Care Foundation for Ventura County had limited personal protective equipment. The Ventura community immediately rose to the occasion by sewing masks and makeshifting isolation gowns for Ventura doctors and nurses. Another need that came up was video baby monitors, which were used to assist medical staff with viewing into an isolation room and decreasing exposure for staff.

The Health Care Foundation is a public benefit organization that enhances and augments Ventura County Health Care Agency, especially Ventura County’s hospitals. In 2012, the County of Ventura leadership called upon Amy to establish a public benefit foundation to exclusively serve Ventura County Health Care Agency. Thus, the Health Care Foundation for Ventura County was formed in November 2014. Amy is an active member of the National Association of Health Care Philanthropy, board member of Association of Fundraising Professionals, member of Southern California Association for Health Care Development, Las Patronas member, board member of Ventura Chamber of Commerce, Ventura Downtown Lions Club board member, sustaining Patroness of National Charity League of Ventura County, a Pepperdine Associate and member of Community Presbyterian Church and mentors Pepperdine University Seaver students as a career coach at the Pepperdine Career Center.
