Dr. Granados: Mobile Content Consumption Dethrones The PC


In his latest Forbes blog post, Dr. Nelson Granados, Associate Professor of Information Systems, highlights a report from Limelight Networks that found that smart phones are now king when it comes to digital downloads. In the 2016 report, smartphones displaced PCs as the dominant device for downloading and consuming digital content. Last year was a turning point in the availability of digital video for consumers as 2015 marked the year when movies became available for digital download earlier than on DVD. Video streaming services also proliferated, which cater to digitally savvy and mobile consumers. Dr. Granados says “consumers worldwide are responding as they devour the mobile content that is increasingly available to them. The pace of digital transformation in video consumption is tremendous.
