Dr. Nelson Granados Warns T-Mobile's 'Binge On' Could Be A Bust


Dr. Nelson Granados, Pepperdine Graziadio Business School Associate Professor of Information Systems, previously advocated for T-Mobile’s Binge On service which allows consumers to stream unlimited video from 38 participating providers and not have it count towards their data plan. However, upon further reflection and more information emerging, Dr. Granados has serious concerns about its legality. He says “sure, it could be good for consumers, but lawyers will have a blast claiming it’s illegal, because the net neutrality rules favor content providers as much as consumers. Competitors could claim T-Mobile is illegally making space in its network to enable Binge On, getting an unfair advantage. I am afraid Binge On may be too good to be true, like other disruptive ventures that have gone a bit too far in not just challenging the status quo, but also playing with the boundaries of legality.” Read more:
