DisneyLife, HBO Now May Be Game Changers in Media Distribution, Says Dr. Nelson Granados


In his latest post on Forbes.com, Pepperdine Graziadio Business School Associate Professor of Information Systems Dr. Nelson Granados discusses how two leading streaming video providers, DisneyLive and HBO Now, are overcoming channel conflicts to provide direct-to-consumer, multi-media subscription services. Dr. Granados says, “HBO opened the floodgates, and it was only a matter of time before numerous content owners (like CBS and Showtime) announced similar direct-to-consumer services, and the list keeps growing.” In the case of DisneyLife, which will offer subscription services in Europe in 2016, Dr. Granados notes, “It is such a priority for Disney to enter the subscription-based streaming space, that it would rather use a middleman in territories where it cannot go direct, than have no presence at all.” Read more: http://www.forbes.com/sites/nelsongranados/2015/10/22/disneylife-unlocking-the-floodgates-for-multimedia-streaming-services/
