This week California small business owners were in Mexico, the state’s largest trade partner, to do deals. It was the type of trade mission that larger businesses are better known to stage. Pepperdine finance professor Craig Everett, director of the Pepperdine Private Capital Markets Project, told public radio’s KPCC that some of these trips can be a really expensive vacations on someone else’s dime. But when it comes to small business owners, trade missions tend to be more successful. He added, “Most small business owner tend to be extremely busy. In general, a small business person does not take a trip like this and does not leave their business unless they want to see results. So, they are hungrier and they make things happen.”
