Our keynote speaker, Ezekiel Emanuel is one of the leading practitioners shaping the future of healthcare, with a long record of experience at the top levels of policy. Trained both as an oncologist (MD, Harvard Medical School) and a political scientist, Zeke offers a uniquely thoughtful perspective on the most difficult issues in medicine today. From 2009 to 2011, Zeke was a special advisor for health policy to the White House Office of Management and Budget.

As one of the most prominent voices advising the White House about healthcare, he had a significant impact on federal healthcare budgets and the Affordable Care Act. He is a founding chair at the Clinical Center of the National Institutes of Health. Dr. Emanuel holds a joint position at the Wharton School and the School of Medicine at the University of Pennsylvania, where he chairs the Department of Medical Ethics & Health Policy. He is also the author of the book, Reinventing American Health Care.

His latest book, Reinventing American Health Care, is the definitive account of the ACA — what it changes, what we can expect going forwards, and what this means for your audience. Zeke ends the book with a reflection on “Six Megatrends” — six bold predictions about the radical changes we can expect in the next ten years.

His previous book, Brothers Emanuel: A Memoir of an American Family, is a true American success story. Zeke is one of the world’s leading oncologists; his brother Rahm is the mayor of Chicago and former White House Chief of Staff; and his youngest brother, Ari, is a Hollywood superagent. How did one family produce three such high-achieving kids? Zeke’s answers will interest anyone who cares about how people rise to the top of their fields and achieve their full potential. His other books include The Ends of Human Life and No Margin, No Mission: Health- care Organizations and the Quest for Ethical Excellence.

Dr. Ezekiel Emanuel has received numerous awards including election to the Institute of Medicine (IOM) of the National Academy of Science, the Association of American Physicians, and the Royal College of Medicine (UK) and many others. Hippocrates Magazine selected him as Doctor of the Year in Ethics. His articles have appeared in such medical journals as the New England Journal of Medicine, The Lancet, and JAMA. His popular writing has appeared in The New York Times, The Wall Street Journal, The Atlantic, The New Republic, and many other publications.

Samir Malik is currently the Senior Vice President and General Manager of Genoa Telepsychiatry, part of Genoa, a QoL Healthcare company. Samir came into this role through the acquisition of his company, 1DocWay, a New York City-based telepsychiatry company, which he founded and served as CEO. The company expands access to mental healthcare in rural America. Samir and his team have built the technology-enabled-services company from scratch, treating 50,000 patients across the country.

Prior to 1DocWay, Samir was the President of Signature Healthcare, and CEO of ZipCare Transportation, two healthcare service companies he started and led. These two endeavors have grown in the past 5 years from two employees to over 150, while improving access to healthcare in markets and populations in need of mental health access. From 2010 to 2012, Samir was the Director of Strategic Planning at CenterPointe Hospital, a 150-bed health system in St. Louis, Missouri, where he designed and built a new model for outpatient mental health programs across 3 states. Prior to CenterPointe Hospital, Samir’s career began with McKinsey & Co as a Business Analyst, where he focused on a wide range of strategic and operational initiatives for large organizations both inside and outside healthcare. While there, Samir served as a McKinsey Hospital Institute Fellow.

Samir received a Bachelor of Science in Economics from the Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania magna cum laude, a Bachelor of Arts in Neuroscience from Penn with distinction, and a Master’s of Business Administration at Wharton in Healthcare Management.

Thomas M. Priselac is President and Chief Executive Officer of the Cedars-Sinai Health System -- a position he has held since January 1994.

Mr. Priselac has been associated with Cedars-Sinai since 1979. Prior to being named President and CEO, he was Executive Vice President from 1988 to 1993. Before joining Cedars-Sinai, he was on the executive staff of Montefiore Hospital in Pittsburgh.

An author and invited speaker on health policy issues, Mr. Priselac has served the health care field in various roles during his career at Cedars-Sinai. He is a past Chair of the American Hospital Association Board of Trustees and past Chair of the Association of American Medical Colleges. Prior to those roles, he chaired the Hospital Association of Southern California, the California Healthcare Association, and the Association of American Medical Colleges Council of Teaching Hospitals. The holder of the Warschaw/Law Endowed Chair in Healthcare Leadership at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center, Mr. Priselac also serves as an adjunct professor at the UCLA School of Public Health.

A native of Pennsylvania, Mr. Priselac obtained a bachelor’s degree in Biology from Washington and Jefferson College in Pennsylvania, and a master’s in Public Health, Health Services Administration and Planning, from the University of Pittsburgh.

Wyatt W. Decker, M.D., is Mayo Clinic Vice President and Chief Executive Officer of Mayo Clinic in Arizona. As a Vice President of the largest not-for-profit integrated multi-specialty group practice in the nation, Dr. Decker helps direct Mayo Clinic’s research, education, and clinical operations in Arizona, Florida, and Minnesota.

Dr. Decker is directly responsible for Mayo Clinic operations in Arizona which includes launching Mayo Clinic School of medicine – Arizona Campus; constructing a state-of-the-art NCI-designated Cancer Center with proton beam therapy; pioneering the use of digital technologies to provide healthcare expertise to affiliated practices nationwide; and, providing healthcare for over 105,000 patients each year at Mayo’s four locations in greater Phoenix. Mayo Clinic Hospital in Arizona has been ranked by Consumer Reports as the nation’s No. 1 safest teaching hospital, and is ranked as the No. 1 hospital in Arizona by US News & World Report.

Dr. Decker is a Professor of Emergency Medicine at the Mayo Clinic College of Medicine. He developed and subsequently directed the Emergency Medicine Residency training Program at Mayo Clinic, served as the inaugural Chair of the Department of Emergency Medicine in Minnesota, and Chair of Emergency Medicine at Mayo Clinic in Florida. Dr. Decker has held numerous leadership positions at Mayo Clinic in Rochester, including the oversight of hospital operations; public affairs; and the recruitment, retention and leadership development of staff physicians.

As an Emergency Physician, Dr. Decker chaired the Clinical Policy Committee of American College of Emergency Physicians, and served as the founding editor-in-chief of the International Journal of Emergency Medicine. He has published numerous peer-reviewed research articles and lectures internationally on topics including syncope and atrial fibrillation, hospital management, team building, change management and leadership. Dr. Decker has received many leadership and team-building awards from Mayo Clinic and the prestigious Heroes of Emergency Medicine award from the American College of Emergency Physicians for his work in Haiti following the 2009 earthquake. Prior to his medical career, Dr. Decker worked as a mountaineering guide in the western United States for the National Outdoor Leadership School.

Dr. Decker holds an M.D. from Mayo Medical School, an MBA from Kellogg School of Management, Northwestern University, and a BS from the University of California-Santa Cruz. He completed internal medicine residency training at Mayo Clinic Graduate School of Medicine and Emergency Medicine training at Denver Health and Hospitals.

Hill Ferguson is Chief Executive Officer at Doctor On Demand. With nearly two decades of experience in mobile technology, Hill has led companies at all stages of growth, from being a founder to being a senior executive at PayPal, a high-growth public company. He holds deep commitment to putting customers first by delivering the best possible products, a value that resonates with Doctor On Demand's commitment to its industry-leading clinical quality and best-in-class customer experience.

Before joining Doctor On Demand, Ferguson helped transform PayPal into a more customer-focused technology company, leading the global mobile team and eventually serving as the company's Chief Product Officer. Prior to joining PayPal in 2011, Hill was Vice President of Product and Marketing at Zong – which pioneered new technologies that enabled consumers to make payments quickly and easily using a mobile phone number. Zong built a vast network of over 250 mobile operators in over 50 countries, while building a merchant network of leading digital goods and online gaming developers such as Sony, Sulake, Bigpoint and Facebook.

He has also worked as general manager at Yodlee, where he helped develop and market personal financial management software and consumer payment products used by leading financial institutions. As a senior product manager at Yahoo!, he helped create the award-winning Yahoo! Finance website, and developed a variety of payment services. He also co-founded LoanBack, a peer-to-peer loan management service that has helped consumers manage over $1.7 billion in loans from friends and family. Hill holds a bachelor's degree and an MBA from Vanderbilt University and lives in the San Francisco Bay area.
