Graziadio Spotlight Stories

Why did you choose Pepperdine Graziadio Business School?

"I chose Pepperdine Graziadio because of the flexibility it offers to working professionals. The different campus locations and course offerings throughout Southern California gave me the option to choose where I wanted to take my classes. Also, the Pepperdine Graziadio student body is made up of like-minded working professionals who are earning degrees in related fields."

How would you define the "Pepperdine difference?"

"The small class sizes are a huge differentiator from other business schools. The intimate class size allowed me to connect with fellow students and professors alike. I often reflect on the responsible leadership teachings Pepperdine Graziadio instilled in me. I don't think I could have experienced such a profound impact in a large class setting."

What is one lesson learned in the BSM program that you have been able to apply to your career or personal life?

"The BSM program is challenging because the majority of students pursue full-time studies in addition to full-time employment. During my capstone strategy coursework, Dr. Norma Davis reminded the whole class – 'No man or woman is an island.' The words of Dr. Davis remind me today that success is never a solo project and behind each's success story is a network of people helping that person achieve their goals."

What is your favorite Pepperdine memory?

"During a group study session, I thanked one of my peers for sharing his extensive knowledge with the team. He then proceeded to share the lessons he learned from each member of our group. This experience showed me knowledge transfers in more ways than one at Pepperdine and that teaching is fluid. My classmates reinforced the topics we learned in lectures and shared their extensive work experience with the rest of the class."

What advice would you give to someone who is considering seeking a degree?

"Not all programs are created equal. Cultural fit plays a large part in the overall program experience. Many students don't realize the simple truth that "like minds attract like minds." So it is important to choose wisely because you will definitely be spending many sleepless nights with your fellow students. The wrong choice in business school could have a lifelong impact."

How are you supporting or staying engaged with the Pepperdine Community?

"I try to reach out to Pepperdine alumni anytime that I travel to conferences throughout Europe. It's important for me to stay connected with the Pepperdine community and check in with my fellow alums at any chance I get. I like to know what they are doing in their professional endeavors and see how they have progressed in their career."

Where do you see yourself in 10 years?

"I hope to have moved up the ranks in advisory services industry and hold the position of Partner at a strategy consulting firm."
