MS in Organization Development

Mary Price
How have your studies at Pepperdine made a difference in your career?

My point of view has changed and expanded since experiencing my first two trimesters in the MSOD program. My ability to contribute to meaningful work at a higher level has been impacted by the learning that has taken place. I am able to give back to my company by applying and using the skills that I have learned. I think this is the true benefit of working while you're in the program.

Describe your most rewarding learning experience at Pepperdine.

The individuals who I have developed relationships with in my cohort and within the faculty are truly changing my life in so many positive ways.

What do you think makes Pepperdine different than other schools?

First of all, the faculty members are renowned experts in the field of organization development and it helps to learn from thought leaders who are doing the work today. Additionally, I love the global aspect of the program. We are not just reading about doing business in Europe, South America and Asia, we are physically working there and getting to live what we are learning in real time.

What were your reasons for choosing Pepperdine?

Pepperdine has been a lifelong dream ever since my cousin attended for her undergrad and then years later for her graduate degree. The sticking point for me though was when I read about the MSOD program, interviewed with the faculty, and connected with alumni. After meeting these people, I knew that this was a program that would add a different value in my life – both personally and professionally.

What advice would you give to future students going to business school?

Study something you love and want to learn more about! Find a program and subject area that you are passionate about -- it gives a stronger sense of meaning and connection to the work.

Who was your favorite professor or class and why?

"We are not just reading about doing business in Europe, South America and Asia, we are physically working there and getting to live what we are learning in real time."

This is a tough one. I have personally connected with Terri, Julie and Ann. Each of them offers something different that I want to develop and strengthen in myself. What I love about our classes is that we all learn from each other (professors and students) and the learning and insights never stop.
