Graziadio Spotlight Stories
"Why did I get my MBA? Several of my former Amazon co-workers recommended that I go to business school because they felt it was a great opportunity to strengthen my quantitative and analytical skills. In addition to improving these skills at Pepperdine Graziadio, I really developed my interpersonal skill set, the "softer skills."
Change management and behavioral classes enhanced my ability to lead, work with others and execute large projects. These skills have been enormously helpful in my role as a Senior Marketing Manager at Amazon where I manage the merchandising and content team at Alexa, Amazon's intelligent personal assistant. While at Pepperdine Graziadio I learned how to manage expectations and motivate a team which has been helped me professionally in a business that moves at such a rapid pace."
I truly enjoy helping students with their career development and strengthening their network.
"When I was at Pepperdine Graziadio I was president of Challenge for Charity (C4C), a non-profit organization that draws on the talents, energy, and resources of MBA students to support the Special Olympics, Boys & Girls Club and the Children's Lifesaving Foundation. I'm proud of the fundraising we did which included launching a "Casino Night," which combined a night of fun with raising much-needed money for these worthy organizations.
As an alumnus I serve as a mentor with the Pepperdine Career Network. I meet with students, review their resumes, conduct mock interviews, and give them feedback to help them advance in their careers. While at Google, I hosted multiple student campus tours, including employee panels with the benefit of free Google snacks and photo ops. I'm working with the career services department to take a group of students on a tour of Amazon. I truly enjoy helping students with their career development and strengthening their network. It is always a pleasure to take students on a tour as getting a glimpse of what it is like to work at different companies is so important."
Golden Torch Award
"When I found out that I was going to receive a Golden Torch Award this past spring I was extremely honored. I know many Graziadio alumni give back to the school and I was thrilled to be considered an ambassador for the school. I especially love giving mock interviews and helping students articulate the impact they've made whether it be how they've helped their team grow or how their ideas have benefited the company. I am always happy when I can help someone express how they've made a difference."
