Expand/CollapseDo I have to have all 68 lower division units complete before starting with Pepperdine?

You can start the BSM program even if you are missing some lower division requirements, but the English and Math requirements must be completed before you start. To graduate you must complete all 68 lower division units.

Expand/CollapseCan I transfer upper-division coursework to Pepperdine University?

Students may petition to waive up to four courses (up to 16 units) (excluding BSM 468, Organizational Behavior, and BSM 479, Business Strategy), based upon the transfer of upper-division courses of comparable scope and units provided.

Expand/CollapseDo my lower division units have to be in business to be considered for the BSM program?

Pepperdine does not require business prerequisite courses to qualify for the BSM program.

Applicants should contact a pre-admissions counselor about in-progress units.

Expand/CollapseAm I required to have management experience since this is a management program?

Management experience is not a requirement for the BSM program.

Expand/CollapseHow much full-time work experience do I need to qualify for the BSM program?

Students should be employed on a full-time basis and have significant prior work experience in order to relate to the other students and the material covered in the course. For more information, prospective students should speak with a pre-admission advisor.

Enlisted personnel can receive six undergraduate elective units toward the lower division requirement. ACE units can also be accepted.

Expand/CollapseIs my tuition affected by the fact I am a non-resident?

The tuition rate is the same for all new students.

Expand/CollapseWill Pepperdine consider an applicant with a low cumulative GPA?

Students with a lower cumulative GPA are considered for the program. The Admission Committee will evaluate your GPA, work experience, and number of units completed when making a final decision.

Expand/CollapseHow long is the BSM program?

The BSM program is designed to be a two-year program. The curriculum can also be taken at a slower pace by taking one to three classes per trimester or taking a trimester off. You have seven years to complete the degree.

Expand/CollapseHow many classes are in the BSM program?

The BSM program is a total of 60 units: 12 core classes (at 4 units per course) and six elective classes (at 2 units per course).

Expand/CollapseHow much time outside of class do I need to spend on homework and team projects?

Generally, for every hour in class you should plan on 1.5 - 2 hours of outside time for homework and team projects. Each of the core classes is 4 hours, one night per week.

Expand/CollapseWhat are the days and times of the classes?

The majority of classes are offered weekdays (Mon-Thurs) from 6 to 10 p.m. for 15 weeks. Each class meets one night per week. Some classes are held in a weekend mode which means five weekends over the course of the trimester. These classes meet from 6 to 10 p.m. on a Friday evening and 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. the following Saturday. (2-unit courses meet for two weekends).

The average class size is less than 30 students.

Expand/CollapseAre there any opportunities to study abroad?

Pepperdine offers optional study abroad trips in Europe, Asia, and South America. Each trip is one week in length and can be taken for two units of credit.

Expand/CollapseDoes Pepperdine require a laptop computer for the BSM program?

A laptop is not required for the BSM program, but it is highly recommended.

No, the BSM degree is a full-fledged Bachelor of Science degree from Pepperdine University in Business Management.

Pepperdine University is accredited by AACSB — The International Association for Management Education. The University is also accredited by the Accrediting Commission for Senior Colleges and Universities of the Western Association of Schools and Colleges (WASC).

Pepperdine does not offer online courses in the BSM program, though students and faculty utilize the Internet in their classes.
