Dr. Crooke served as president and chief executive officer of Patagonia, Inc., the designer and distributor of technical outdoor clothing widely known for its commitment to product quality and environmental responsibility. He was CEO of Revolution Living, a group of companies working to change the way consumers and brands interact, and founded on the principle that business success is predicated on a commitment to corporate citizenship, environmental stewardship, product/service quality, and financial strength. It is this commitment that is the foundation of his quadruple bottom-line SEER strategic business model that he teaches at Pepperdine. Crooke coordinates the school’s Certificate in Socially, Environmentally and Ethically Responsible (SEER) Business Strategy program for MBA students and teaches the new non-degree Certificate in Strategic Corporate Social Responsibility executive education program for corporate managers and eco-entrepreneurs.

Directed by award-winning filmmaker Gilly Barnes, the 10-part series “The Big SHFT: 10 Innovators Changing Our World” is being created by eco-conscious media platform SHFT in conjunction with Ford Motor Company. Founded by film producer Peter Glatzer and actor-filmmaker Adrian Grenier (Entourage), who developed the series, SHFT shares a more sustainable approach to the way we live through video, design, art and culture.

Examining topics from food and fashion to urbanization, technology and design, the series puts the spotlight on today’s game changers in sustainability. In addition to Michael Crooke, those game changers include Alice Waters (Chez Panisse), Mike Biddle (MBA Polymers) and Tom Szacky (TerraCycle). The series will be featured on many platforms including SHFT.com, Huffington Post, AOL and on U.S. Virgin Airlines in-flight entertainment.

“It’s been truly inspiring creating our documentary series profiling ten incredible visionaries committed to taking on the challenge of sustainability across some of the largest industries,” said SHFT’s Grenier in a public statement. “This series continues our exciting partnership and allows us to recognize not only Ford Motor Company as an innovator in sustainability but specifically Bill Ford’s leadership on environmental and manufacturing solutions.”
