NAPP 2010: A Learning and Networking Opportunity

Themed “The Road to Recovery: The Critical Role of P2P in the New Economy,” the National Association of Purchasing and Payables Conference will be a gathering of 3,500 Purchasing and Payables executives from across the country and representing many of the largest companies and most familiar brands. Packed with innovative sessions presented by PO and AP professionals who are recognized industry leaders, best practice workshops, case studies and actual company experiences will provide you with invaluable information.

The Procure-to-Pay Solutions and Technology Fair features both major and emerging companies demonstrating leading-edge procure-to-pay products, services and technologies.

For Graziadio School students, the conference will be fertile ground for career building, making influential professionals connections and expanding your learning experience.

The NAPP is an organization dedicated to providing purchasing and payables professionals with new and innovative ideas for improving both the PO and AP functions. The NAPP seeks to enhance the critical interaction between the Purchasing and Payables disciplines and is the only national organization that focuses on the entire Procure-to-Pay lifecycle.

Workshopping Leadership & Team Building

Professor Ledbetter’s workshop on February 16 asks, “Can Ethics and Effectiveness Coexist?” Models, components and processes required to create powerful teams will be examined. Personal values and motivational patterns related to team leadership and interpersonal issues such as handling conflict and stress are explored.

“Leading teams requires courage, discipline, emotional energy and a moral center. And, while leading teams may at first glance appear straightforward, the reality is many team leaders fail to address common challenges that eventually undermine the team’s ability to succeed,” says Dr. Ledbetter.

Team leaders are tasked with facilitating success through the group – understanding the challenges and strategies for team success enables team leaders to lead positive and productive teams.
Competitive advantage fundamentally depends on the capacity for teams to function well. Successful organizations nearly always have effective, high functioning teams and doomed companies often fail because of ineffective teamwork.

This workshop will engage participants in a model of effective team leadership. Through interaction and learning participants will discover practical methods for leading high performance teams to accomplish organizational goals. Because leading teams involves ethical consideration, this crucial component will be central to Professor Ledbetter’s discussion, as you consider a common tension in your work, the intersection of effectiveness and ethics.
