Marketing professor Andrea Scott (center) poses with the No. 1 Pepperdine MBA team at Baylor University
Pepperdine MBAs Meghan Barnes, Bryan Zirkel, JC Garrett and Sebastian Bartl took first place in the MBA National Case Competition in Ethical Leadership at Baylor University. Sebastian Bartl also won the Best Question & Answer Award. The competition included students from the University of Notre Dame, the University of Florida, Wake Forest University, the University of Washington, the University of Iowa, the University of Illinois, Clemson University and Baylor University. Over $8,000 in prizes was awarded to the participants.
The major ethical issues related to finance, the struggling world economy and the implications for business and society were the focus of the case.
The Graziadio School team “did an outstanding job and truly represented Graziadio well,” said Professor Andrea Scott. “It’s been a great honor to support them and I look forward to continuing to work with our Concordia team as we gear up for the 2010 John Molson MBA International Case Competition Cup in Montreal in January.”
Meghan Barnes and JC Garrett, who is Malibu Graduate Business Society president, are also members of the team preparing for the Molson competition. Mr. Garrett competed with the Graziadio School team at Baylor last year and won the Best Presenter Award.
The Baylor win marks the third year in a row that Graziadio School students made it to the final round in this corporate social responsible-focused competition. Last year, the school-sponsored team earned third place honors.
