Pepperdine honors Graziadio distinguished alumna Susanna Kass

Susanna-KassSusanna (Poon) Kass, MBA ’88, and chief operating officer at Trilliant Incorporated, will receive the Distinguished Alumna Award from the Graziadio School of Business and Management at winter commencement ceremonies on Saturday, December 5, 2009. Given three times a year, the award is bestowed on a business masters graduate whose professional and personal accomplishments honor the memory of business school benefactor George Graziadio and uphold the values-centered principles of Pepperdine University.

Graduation starts at 10:30 a.m. at Pepperdine University’s Firestone Fieldhouse in Malibu, CA.

Trilliant Incorporated is a San Francisco-area energy services and technology company delivering power- saving Smart Grid intelligent networks. As COO, Ms. Kass manages North America business operations and is responsible for international business groups as regionally centered business operations are established in a global Smart Grid market. She brings more than 25 years in networking and infrastructure data center global operations experience to this newly-created role.

During her career, Kass was the COO for eBay International, launching eBay into international markets. She has also held senior corporate, product marketing, and worldwide business operations positions at Sun Microsystems and Hewlett-Packard. Her experience includes management of the design and implementation of grid computing and data center utility computing customer deployments with worldwide strategic partners such as telecommunications providers, service operators, and wireless carriers.

A passionate environmentalist, Kass participates in numerous environmental communities to promote environmental protection and energy security. Her special interest area is to overcome human behavioral and technology adoption barriers and influence public and private market policies to accelerate the adoption of safe and economically energy efficient solutions. She remains actively involved with Pepperdine’s business school as a Board of Visitors member and frequent in-class guest and alumni ambassador.

Kass is an honorary founding member of the Asian Women Leadership Forum, and was formerly the chair for the Chinese Software Professional Association. She holds a Graduate School of Business Degree for Executives from Stanford University, an MBA from Pepperdine University, and a B.S. in Computer Science and a B.S. in Business Administration Marketing from San Diego State University.
