Well said.
In the past, some ventures have successed during times of great hardship.
For example, economists and film historians look back and marvel that some motion picture producers thrived during the Great Depression of the 1930's. Gone with the Wind is an ironic (or perhaps prophetic) example. Still widely considered the finest film ever made, it was produced during the 1930's and depicted an earlier time of great hardship (Civil War), ending with the theme that one must triumph over privation. The Wizard of Oz is another example of a great, popular film from that same period, with a similar theme of succeeding through danger and obstacles. At any rate, some film producers and studios succeeded during the Great Depression, and some of their films are still being honored and shown today.
During a recession later in the 20th century, manufacturers of small tools made money as homeowners bought electric drills, saws, etc., to tackle "do it yourself" projects rather than pay others to do the work.
One day experts will look back to our current recession and marvel at the vision, courage, resourcefulness and savvy of as-yet-unrecognized entrepreneurs who didn't merely survive this era we're living through right now but thrived in it and helped our entire economy.
