Steven Purcell

"The focus on values-centered leadership grounded me in a way that allowed me to focus on my core values."

Why did you choose the Graziadio School?
I had heard a lot of good things about Pepperdine University. When I attended a campus open house, I got a good feeling from the staff and current students. It had a family feeling. People were approachable and accessible.

I also liked the idea of small class sizes, something I wasn't used to given my undergraduate experience. I was looking for a classroom experience that was more close-knit, and I got that feeling from Pepperdine. Once I was a student, that close-knit community really came to life with professors and students. Even after I graduated, the career services staff and many alumni continued to support me. They answered my questions and went above and beyond to help me find the right employment.

How has your Pepperdine MBA prepared you for success?
My Pepperdine MBA has prepared me very well. The courses I took centered around entrepreneurship and management and building strong and diverse skill sets -- which is what you need to be successful in any industry. Also the focus on values-centered leadership grounded me in a way that allowed me to focus on my core values. As I move forward in the future and take on new responsibilities, I can stay committed to these core values.

How would you describe your time at the Graziadio School?
My time at the Graziadio School has been a great personal and professional experience. The program has given me the resources to grow as a person and prepare for a successful future. I will always value the relationships made and look forward to giving back to the program any way I can.
