They are part of the Pacific Division of the Western Conference in the National Basketball Association (NBA), and are tied for fifth place in the NBA for number of championships won.
About Jerry West
During his illustrious playing career, West was a 14-time NBA All-Star with the Los Angeles Lakers and currently ranks second in franchise history in total points scored (25,192). After retiring from the NBA, he served as head coach of the Lakers for three seasons. In 1982, he became General Manager of the Lakers, a post he occupied for 18 seasons and helped guide the franchise to five NBA titles during that stretch.
In 2002, West joined the Memphis Grizzlies as President of Basketball Operations and was selected as NBA Executive of the Year in 2004.
As an Executive Board Member with the Golden State Warriors, Jerry West serves the NBA team in an advisory capacity, assisting the basketball operations and business arms of the organization. West, who joined the Warriors in his current capacity in May 2011, was elected into the Naismith Basketball Hall of Fame in 1980 and is a member of the NBA's 50th Anniversary All-Time Team.
