Deborah Platt Majoras’ tenure as chairman of the Federal Trade Commission has been marked by increased efforts to protect consumers from emerging frauds such as identity theft and deceptive spam. She also has focused on increasing the efficiency and transparency of the merger review process, implementing sound antitrust policy regarding intellectual property, and preventing anticompetitive government policies. Prior to her government service, including work in the U.S. Department of Justice’s Antitrust Division, Majoras was a partner in Jones Day’s antitrust section.
