Online Alumni Directory
Pepperdine alumni can be a rich source of company or career-related information. The Online Alumni Directory is a database with information on Pepperdine graduates across all schools and programs. You can search for individuals by name, company name, or other keyword. The information below is provided to help you navigate and use the directory to your best advantage.
Accessing the Online Alumni Directory
Go to pepperdine.alumsys.com. Begin by clicking on "first time visitor" in the upper left corner and create your login name and password.
Searching for Contacts
Go to the box in the upper right hand corner called "PeopleFinder." For a basic search you can input a name, company name, or keywords in the box or you can click on "Advanced Search." Using advanced search enables you to specify the degree program (e.g., if you want to search Graziadio graduates only) the graduation year and geographic area.
The results of a search produce a list of alphabetical names. Each name is a link to that person's profile within the Pepperdine database. The profiles include the name of the company each alumnus works for, job title, phone number and address. Keep in mind that the information is only as current as that which is provided to us by each user, and each user can make specific profile fields inaccessible for viewing.
Contacting Alumni
As not all alumni are familiar with the directory, it is helpful to explain how you found them as a contact. Approach people as you would want to be approached by someone you didn't know, but with whom you shared Pepperdine in common. We recommend not “asking for help finding a job.” Take the approach of an information interview. After introducing yourself, let the alumnus know you are interested in information, advice, insight, suggestions, opinions, and referrals regarding your career and their company or the type of work they do.

It helps to prepare before contacting anyone for information. You can find a tutorial on information interviewing at Quintessential Careers. You can also click the “Open Our Career Toolkit” link from their home page, www.quintcareers.com, to find other tutorials, and articles with good information on every job search topic.
Update Your Own Information
Make sure your own information is current! If you move, get a new job, or change your e-mail address, please let us know. Simply log on to the Online Alumni Directory and select "View Your Profile" from the "What’s New With You" menu on the left. At the top of that page are links that allow you to change your privacy setting and update your profile.
