Jim recently joined the board of directors at Legal Genie, Inc., an online unbundled legal services provider. Legal Genie allows users the optional choice of connecting with a private attorney to provide document review, legal advice and guidance.

As a member of the board, Jim will be working closely with private equity firms to secure funding. He formerly served as president of Cellular One of San Francisco and later as a southeast regional president for McCaw Cellular Communications, where he was responsible for over $10 billion in assets. Jim then became the first president of Nextel Digital Mobile Networks.

Jim is a 1982 graduate from Pepperdine University’s Graziadio School of Business and Management where he received his MBA.

Thomas will be joining Genesis Electronics Group, Inc., as the company’s new chief financial officer. He was recently appointed by the board of directors. Thomas is a Certified Public Accountant with more than 30 years of experience as CFO and other senior executive roles with Fortune 500 and other public companies in sectors including semiconductor design and manufacturing, enterprise storage and consumer electronics.

Thomas was also a partner in a private investment group specializing in management and leveraged buyouts. Chuck and his business partner Catherine Austin Fitts recently announced the formation of Sea Lane Advisory and the creation of its Tradewinds portfolio (Tradewinds Fact Sheet.)

Sea Lane Advisory is registered as an investment adviser with the Securities Regulation Division of the California Department of Corporations. Registrations in additional jurisdictions are anticipated. Sea Lane Advisory is owned jointly by Financial Perspectives, Inc. and Solari Investment Advisory Services, LLC.

Chuck is the president of Financial Perspectives, Inc., serving as an investment advisor since 1997. He was recognized as one of America’s Best Financial Planners in 2006, 2009 and 2010 by the Consumers’ Research Council of America. Chuck held management positions with several Silicon Valley electronics firms before becoming an investment advisor. Douglas has been appointed as vice president for institutional advancement at Saint Joseph College in West Hartford, Connecticut.

In his new role, Douglas will provide vision, leadership, planning and direction to all college development and advancement activities, the college said in a statement. His responsibilities include overseeing the cultivation and solicitation of gifts, recommending and implementing policies and procedures for fundraising to support the mission of the College, alumni relations, and managing day-to-day resource development activities. continue

Matthew Fong, 57, alumnus, member of the Pepperdine University Board of Regents, and former California state treasurer passed away on June 1, 2011, after a long battle with cancer.

“Matt was among the most courageous people I have ever known,” said Andrew K. Benton, Pepperdine University president. “He approached everything in life with enthusiasm, tremendous energy, intellect, and integrity. He was a great friend and will be deeply missed by all of us who were fortunate to know him.”

Fong was the adopted son of former Democratic California Secretary of State March Fong Eu. He earned his bachelor’s of science degree at the United States Air Force Academy in 1975, an MBA from Pepperdine University in 1982, and his juris doctorate from Southwestern University School of Law in Los Angeles in 1985.  Following graduation from the U.S. Air Force Academy he served his country on active duty for five years and continued in the USAF Reserves where he held the rank of Lt. Melodie has been named the first CEO of TRI Group, a parent company for TRIGHtec and Vanguard Behavioral Solutions. Melodie is the former chief information officer for New York State. She began her career as a systems engineer for IBM, and is the co-founder of the New York State CIO Academy.  She served as New York’s chief technology adviser following her appointment in July 2007 by then-Governor Eliot Spitzer.

TRIGHTec is an information technology management and consulting firm. Vanguard is an early-stage software company that will focus on selling its software-as-a-service to organizations that monitor and assess people with behavioral health problems. continue

Arthur was recently appointed as CEO and president of Palladium, a manufacturer of lithium-based battery packs. Arthur has been with Palladium since 2009, and served and multiple roles, including consultant, vice president of global operations and sales strategies, and president. He was instrumental in developing operations and sales strategies to reposition the firm after the company’s divestiture from Tyco.

Arthur has more than 30 years of direct operations and management expertise and has worked for Avery Dennison, Carttronics LLC, Frito Lay, Technicolor and Trojan Battery Co.

Aruthur received a bachelor of science degree in engineering from California State University Long Beach and his MBA from Pepperdine University, Graziadio School of Business and Management.

Doug is the new vice president of global marketing at Agendia, a world leader in molecular cancer diagnostics, it was recently announced. Doug will manage all strategic and tactical marketing activities.

“As Agendia grows it is vital that we continually seek out the brightest and most innovative minds in the industry to add to our already stellar team,” said Dr. Bernhard Sixt, CEO and co-founder of Agendia. “We have done just that with the hiring of  Doug, who will help us make more people aware of Agendia’s truly revolutionary technology worldwide.”

Doug brings a wealth of leadership experience in medical and pharmaceutical product marketing at companies including Coherent Medical, Allergan and SenoRx. Most recently, he served as vice president of marketing at Vertos Medical. In his eight years at Irvine-based SenoRx, Bradley led the company’s marketing activities from its infancy. In this role, Doug became intimately familiar with medical devices for the diagnosis and treatment of breast cancer. During his time at SenoRx, they received the “Technology Fast 50″ award from Deloitte & Touch in 2006, 2007 and 2008. He holds a bachelor of science degree in microbiology from the University of Oklahoma and an MBA from Pepperdine University.
